Ok, so some more musings. I am currently in china at the moment and have spent the last two days aimlessly wandering around beijing. So obviously this means I have been approached by literally thousands of salespeople.
One place in particular is a large builing called refered to as "silk market" and is basically filled with little cart type vendors that are selling their goods.
It is always fun to watch unprepared tourists try to navigate through silk market while thousand of salespeople descend on them like hyenas ravaging a deceased mastadon.
All these salespeople compete with eachover, the margins are tight, and the competition feirce. But also, this is their life. No weekends and long hours.
So whats my point. Well of the thousands of people who tried to sell me stuff, two stood out.
One was very cute and exceedingly happy, and the other was serious.
Now I went to the market to buy some fake aviators.
Found the ones i liked, haggled the price down from 850 to 90 but i didnt buy. They were exactly the ones i wanted, and the price was good. But the girl was so serious and had a bit of an atitude. I just did'nt want to give her the money. Not like it was huuuge amount of money anyway , but still.
On the way out, this other girl, who was cute and bubbly and fun tried her best to sell me some jeans (i really did'nt need any). Now don't get the wrong idea, she was'nt flirting with me or anything like that. Just fun and enjoyable to be around. She was still trying hard to close me on the sale, but it was fun.
Eventually I walked out with nothing, I would really loved to buy something off the second girl. But I'm not one for frivilous spending, she really had nothing i needed.
Ok so fiiinally the point of the story.
These two girls work in the same building, and have comporable lives. But, one of these girls would earn more money, have more friends, have a fun job and ultimately live a happier life.
I have yet to quite manage this skill, but it is one I am working on daily.
So whatever the circustances, aim to be positive.
I'll contiplate all posible meanings of this as I'm stuck for 21hours in transit.
