This is something of a quandery that I've had for some time. Coming from a direct sales background and having many mates who are lawyers, I have always wondered who has the tougher sale.
Firstly I have to admit that I think lawyers are nothing more than glorified salesman. I mean they do their homework and have to convince someone of something.
But despite what the tv might produce I think if you compare the two the lawyer actually has an easier job.
You see the lawyer has to make his sale in an arena that wants him to do it. They also have a set of rules to go by.
The judge can't turn around to the laywer and say something like, "look i know it all sounds good, but it just does'nt feel right"
I can't imagine theres a situation where a lawyer has to cold close somebody. Well maybe in chasing ambulances, but not in court.
The salesman on the other hand can't use a defining rule book and logic to convince people of a sale. It's completely wide open. Plus in court everybody knows what they are there to do. Chances are if your a salesman, the people you are dealing with do not want to be their. having done timeshare and kirby vacuums, it boggles my mind to think of how easy lawyers have it.
But perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps I've missed the point.
