I don't really know what happened. I walked into the store, spoke to this gorgeous eastern bloc sales girl. Walked out with a $300 jacket.
I have to give this girls credit. She was darn good. Being a salesman myself I like to think of myself as immune to the normal sales tricks. Of course the salesgirls with flatter you in order for you to buy their goods.
What happened was I walked into David Jones (moderately wanky dept store in Australia)to by a jacket. Tried on a couple, found one I like, but wasn't really that fussed.
Then this girl comes running up out of nowhere. Smiles ear to ear. Good looking. Keen to help.
In hindsight I think what threw me was the Bulgarian accent.
She somewhat demanded if she could help me. She wasn't really demanding, just the quaintly blunt/broken english made it seem that way.
So she gets me to try on the jacket. Telling me what a great body I have, and basically complementing me on a bunch of things. "oh wow, thats a great color shirt your wearing....ectect" The jacket has a zip up front. So she stand quite close to me and pulls the jacket onto me, the zips it up.
Now I'm a young bloke in my early twenties and this gorgeous girl is dressing me. I'm fairly sold already.
To be honest she's fairly touchy feely in the whole process.
The next bit though it the most genius move.
She points down the rack of clothes and says "walk, so I can see it on you".
I'm not a model, I'm just some average guy. In any other circumstance I would be like "f**** off". But sure enough, In front of many other shoppers, sigh, I walk down the store for the sales girl.
By this stage she completely had the power in the negotiation. All she would have had to do is wait for me to buy it.
So sure enough I head to the counter and lay down my hard earned.
Later that day I see my sister. Convinced I would get a positive result I show her the jacket I just bought. "oh I guess it's ok" she said.
Yeah I was sold.
Lesson to be learnt, take the power of the client and you can get him/her to do anything.
P.S. secretly I think the salesgirl was genuine. I mean she could have been genuine, right? ??? possibly??
